Sonia Caldwell

Born in 1974 in Dublin and now lives and works near Skibbereen, Co. Cork.

After completeing an introduction to fine art in the College of marketing of Design in Dublin 1n 1993, Sonia decided to go her own way and expore her artistic ways outside of college - during this period she worked in community settings, of which the most notable was the Merchants Quay project - this was to be the first influence on how she was to work over the years. During this time she also did a lot of traveling and she ended up doing a sculpture residency in Zimbabwe doing stone carving - and so set her on the path of stone sculpure for many years to come .
