ARTISTS STATEMENT

When I work on sculptures I am constantly drawn back to the human figure. Our place in the world is a source of interest for my work and recently I have been drawn to trying to express our human need for that something else in life, that spiritual element, that otherness, and the gap that is in us if it is not there.
​
Stone is currently my primary material for sculpture and I use mainly Irish / Kilkenny Limestone for its wonderful contrasts and its reliability .
​
Larger sculptural work is my main interest and it allows me to express ideas in this form. However I have also worked on smaller craft pieces where I can make more affordable pieces that allow more people to appreciate this craft and this stone
